Winery Details

Jo Marsh is not a box ticker. She embraces every task with great expectation and seeks out the path less travelled. With a focus on alternate varietals, Jo produces an astounding array of wines, which including cellar door only wines, comprises over 20 different varietals, some in miniscule quantities. Working closely with local growers Jo has helped to breath new life into this tiny wine region, and shine a light on the breadth and depth of the grape varietal variation that we have in Australia. Jo follows no rule book, she believes in doing what’s best for the wine, polishing and perfecting, highlighting the fruit and sculpting the palate so the wine flows through the mouth with texture and interest.

Press Review

    Billy Button Chardonnay 2021
Whole-bunch pressed, barrel fermented, aged on lees for 9 months in large- and small-format French oak (25% new). Fruit sourced from 3 vineyards for this attractive, well-rounded chardonnay that fills the mouth with bursts of citrus, melon, white peach, grilled nuts and nougat. Very tasty and tangy, too, as it sweeps across the mouth with a touch of cedary oak to finish.

     Billy Button Chardonnay 2021
Peach-driven fruit and cedar wood oak combine to attractive/impressive effect, the finish then citrusy and sustained. This is drinking nicely now but really, given the true line of acidity and sure-footedness of the fruit, you’d expect that this will continue to improve over the coming handful of years. It’s beautifully made and fruited, all it really needs to do is settle down and lose some of its nerves.
