Thistledown She's Electric Grenache 6pk 2020
Thistledown is the vision of Master of Wine, Giles Cooke. Working with Grenache growers in unique sites across Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek, Giles makes elegant, fine, aromatic reds. Choosing to focus on the Grenache grape shows the belief Giles has in this special variety. Thistledown Grenaches are made in small quantities in the Adelaide Hills.
Thistledown She's Electric Grenache 2020
Dry-grown fruit, low yields, old oak and 50% whole bunches. All good things! A limpid mid ruby. A nose suggestive of the sort of thirst-slaking succulence marking all wines here: rosehip, bracken, clove, kirsch, cranberry, bergamot, Turkish delight and iodine. Sweet of flavour, yet not an iota of jamminess. Measured. Savoury, spicy and honed by an attenuated limb of bony tannins. The extraction on a level that sets the bar. High.

Thistledown She’s Electric Grenache 2020
And I need more time. 50% whole bunch from a vineyard ‘at the Seaview end of Chapel Hill Rd’. Sold out at the winery, though there may well be some floating about.
Strawberry, cherry, plenty of spice and citrus peel. Good crunch and energy, poached spiced strawberry, sort of cranberry acidity, fine and shapely emery tannin, a wheaty and spicy finish of definition and length. Excellent, vigorous style of Grenache.
