Since its first release in 1988, the name Parker Coonawarra has represented outstanding quality, longevity and elegance from the region. Based in the very southern end of the Terra Rossa strip, the wines have always embodied a fine, long-lived, classic style. The Hesketh family became the custodians of the vision for Parker in 2013, and have continued with these ideals. The wines offer an exceptional insight into why the Coonawarra region became famous for powerful yet delicious cabernet. This includes a Langton's classification for the flagship First Growth bottling.

Press Review

Parker Coonawarra Estate Kidman Shiraz 6pk 2019
Shiraz planted 50 years ago, fruit off Blocks 1 and 2, 13 days in 10T open static fermenters and aged for 16 months in French oak hogsheads, 20% new. A lovely shiraz from a lovely vintage. Excellent dark garnet with a shot of purple. Deep, earthy, savoury flavours wash over black plums and cherries. Fuller bodied, with beautiful tannins – plush, ripe and velvety soft. A long persistent finish completes a compelling wine.

Parker Coonawarra Estate Kidman Shiraz 6pk 2019

A new wine for Parker, I believe. Sourced from 55 year old vines, with 20% new oak. Coonawarra Shiraz is often a bit ho-hum for me, but sometimes it delivers something a bit more interesting. Blackberry, raspberry, a dusting of pepper, spice, plus light vanilla oak. It’s dense and flavoursome, ripe gravelly tannin, a juicy but dense character, some black olive and ferrous things. Has length and a pretty sort of marzipan character trailing. This goes all right. Drink 2022 - 2030+.

Parker Coonawarra Estate Kidman Shiraz 6pk 2019

This is the first release of this shiraz from the northern Coonawarra. The vines are about 50 years old and the wine gets about 16 months in a mix of French oak. Powerful and tightly structured shiraz showing how good this variety can be. It was a warm vintage and this has produced fruit of intensity and concentration that has been sympathetically handled to work well with the oak. Balanced with fine chalky tannins in support. Suggest decanting to allow those delightful perfumes to emerge. Cellar to 12 years.

Parker Coonawarra Estate Kidman Shiraz 6pk 2019

The inaugural release from 50-year-old vines on Terra Rossa soils. A dense and brooding Shiraz that is full bodied and mouth filling. Upfront primary fruit notes of ripe black plum and sweet spiced oak with a seam of freshness running through the palate. Whilst fruit and oak dominate the palate, there is still some restraint, showing a concentration of style but with the structure and power to house the intensity. I liked the savory tones on the finish adding some youthful complexity to the wine. A very youthful wine that still needs plenty of time to settle.
