Parker Coonawarra Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 6pk 2018

Since its first release in 1988, the name Parker Coonawarra has represented outstanding quality, longevity and elegance from the region. Based in the very southern end of the Terra Rossa strip, the wines have always embodied a fine, long-lived, classic style. The Hesketh family became the custodians of the vision for Parker in 2013, and have continued with these ideals. The wines offer an exceptional insight into why the Coonawarra region became famous for powerful yet delicious cabernet. This includes a Langton's classification for the flagship First Growth bottling.

The label has been tweaked and the value is decent.
Actually I think we’re on pretty good ground here. Especially if you can find this on discount. The fruit is both generous and soft, it remains clearly varietal, the finish is sound and it’s satisfying all round. Blackberry, mint, leaf matter and a gravelly, cedary character. It has the tannin, dryness and leafiness of cabernet but the berried fruit here feels eager to burst free.

Like its Shiraz sibling, this Cabernet is a reliable get. Barbecue wine comes easy. Blackberry paste, leafy and shards of dark chocolate are prominent. Some meatiness kicks on before a rush of mint on exit. Finishing firmish with dusty tannins, you'd be a hard marker not to enjoy a glass. A keen eye will find it for around $18 on special - a great deal. Drink to six years.
