'con natura – no invicem', with nature and not against it, is the motto of winemaker and proprietor Nik Weis from St. Urbans-Hof, when he speaks about his wines and his philosophy. His mission is to recultivate some of the oldest vineyards in the region, trying to restore these beautiful ‘frescos’ and bringing them back to their former glory to let the special terroir of each side shine through. Press Review

Nik Weis Goldtröpfchen Spätlese 12pk 2016

Scheurebe-like, the nose offers intensely pungent sage, mint, cassis and pink grapefruit peel. A creamy, buoyant palate packs a welcome, luscious abundance of juicy pear and pink grapefruit, leading to a pure-fruited, prominently sweet yet coolingly herbal and mouthwateringly salt-tinged finish that refreshes as it caresses. As proof that success this year at St. Urbans-Hof was not necessarily about acidity – and proof, as if it were needed, that a wine’s analysis can mislead – this seductress weighs in at a mere 7.4 grams of acidity!
