Mr. Riggs Sticky End Viognier 375ml 12pk 2016
Winemaker Ben (Mr.) Riggs follows the philosophy “iconic wines from iconic regions”. Whether it’s McLaren Vale Shiraz, Coonawarra Cabernet, or Clare Valley Riesling, his wines are expressing the essence of the vineyard and variety in a style that is big, rich and complex, but also with finesse, texture and elegance. In Ben’s own words: “Think Ella Fitzgerald – bombastic and powerful with a huge vocal range, yet with purity of tone and a gentle sensibility when needed.”
Mr. Riggs Sticky End Viognier 2016
The hand-picked grapes were whole bunch-dried in small perforated crates for 3 weeks in the Italian Passito style, then fermented and matured for 6 months in French barriques (20% new), 367 dozen made. Bright gold; it's a labour of love, with an array of orange marmalade and apricot jam flavours cut by crisp acidity. For the nerds: 130g/l residual sugar, 8.34 g/l titratable acidity and a pH of 3.04.
