Moss Wood Pinot Noir 12pk 2016
Proprietors and winemakers, Clare and Keith Mugford, have established an internationally recognised Margaret River landmark, with a focus on Cabernet Sauvignon. Being part of the Langton’s ‘Exceptional’ ranking since 1991 and other internationally respected wine awards, the couple has also proven that other Moss Wood wines, like Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Semillons, showcase exceptional quality and longevity.
Not sure why but I always enjoy taking a look at Moss Wood pinot noir.
It’s easy to see pinot noir in this release but at the same time I wouldn’t call it overly varietal. It definitely has a stewy, fruit-backward aspect to it, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Its mouthfeel though is silken, and the tannin profile is A-class. It feels fresh too, fresher than usual, as if the individual pieces were given a pep talk before they were placed. There’s an impression of carefulness here; always something worth appreciating.
