Katnook Estate Amara Cabernet Sauvignon 6pk 2016
Katnook is one of the oldest and most acclaimed producers of fine Coonawarra wine. With a history dating back to 1896, it has estate vineyards in the heart of the famed soils on the Riddoch highway. Winemaker Wayne Stehbens made every single vintage of Katnook up until his passing in 2017; a remarkable achievement. In 2018, a new chapter began with Senior Winemaker Tim Heath building on this legacy and leading Katnook's journey into the future.
Katnook Estate Amara Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
This complex, fully loaded red spent 12 months in a conflation of 53% French and 24% American oak, the rest in tank to promote fruit. The vineyard is propitiously situated atop the streak of Terra Rossa that the GI is known for. A warmer year, the concentration of mottled darker fruit tones, bouquet garni and bitter chocolate is impressive. The finish, while longish, is a jagged and unresolved. Time may smooth the shins and elbows of youth.
