Gestalt Lenswood Gewurztraminer 12pk 2015 - Vigorous Bros
Making wines they love to drink, Craig Turnbull and Anthony Pearce, have taken the knowledge they learnt working for others and throw it out the window with their joint venture Gestalt. Sourcing fruit from organic growers in the Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley, and Clare Valley, Anthony and Craig are producing contemporary wines with minimal intervention, and lots of care. Utilising unfashionable varietal such as Savagnin, and Petit Manseng, alongside more classical varietals of the regions such as Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir, Grenache, Shiraz, and Mouverdre, they have crafted a fantastic range of blends and single vineyard wines, very much in the style of the new generation of Basket Range producers..
You could turn to the page of the encyclopaedia with gewurztraminer explained and there could be a glass of this wine there. It’s a good version though, quite intense but not off-puttingly over the top. Bright and bold in aromatics, lots of Chanel #5, Turkish Delight, floral things going on. In the palate, concentrated, intense, squeaky acidity through an oily, mouth-perfume rich palate. It’s a gewurz-lovers idea of a good time, done well. Mike Bennie, The Wine Front
