Eldridge Estate is one of those unique, truly special places where a site and the guiding personalities are in perfect harmony. David Lloyd and his (late) wife, Wendy, purchased the property in 1995, and set about making wines of near incomparable commitment to their terroir in Red Hill, Mornington. Only 3ha under vine in a special sloping, enclosed valley – these are cool, elegant and unadorned wines. Eldridge Estate specialise in the local kings, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but with a superb Gamay added – one of Australia’s finest.

Press Review

    Eldridge Estate Pinot Noir 2016

Seven clones of pinot noir as a starting point. Wild yeast, 100% whole berries, 25% new oak, three different coopers. Poached strawberries, Turkish delight, red cherry and fistfuls of meaty spice. It has personality and difference within a taut, disciplined frame. It gives up plenty, even this young, but everything suggests there are more delights tucked into its flamboyant sleeves.

    Eldridge Estate Pinot Noir 2016

David Lloyd one of the more thoughtful men in Australian wine. And a lovely chap to boot.

Cherry, pencils and a lovely dried flower fragrance about it. It’s medium bodied, kind of minerally and fine, with fine grained tannin, a supple and fine feel, just a hint of dried herb, and a savoury finish that’s refined, dry and very long. Svelte and delightful.
