Winery Details

Elderton was founded by Neil and Lorraine Ashmead in 1982, and is now run by their sons, Allister and Cameron. Built around the famous Command vineyard in the centre of Nuriootpa, Elderton also has its own vineyards in Greenock and the Eden Valley. Julie Ashmead leads the winemaking and viticulture teams in crafting distinctly classic, yet refined, Barossa reds that live up to the estate’s history and world class quality.

Press Review

    Elderton Estate Shiraz 2018

The winemaking approach has been all about preserving the fruit vibrancy and allowing it to express all that is appealing about the Barossa in a good year... It’s a bright and brilliant wine with real palate energy. I particularly loved the balance between the sweet vanillin character and that slightly spicy fruit. Drink it now and enjoy but if you can wait 10 or more years you will have something special.

    Elderton Estate Shiraz 2018

There's rich and intense fruit on offer here, from raspberries to red plums to blackberries and assertive American-oak influence. The palate has a very rich and plush feel with bold, fleshy blackberry flavors, as well as some chocolate, smoked meat and spice. Intense and fleshy. Drink now. Screw cap.
