Elderton was founded by Neil and Lorraine Ashmead in 1982, and is now run by their sons, Allister and Cameron. Built around the famous Command vineyard in the centre of Nuriootpa, Elderton also has its own vineyards in Greenock and the Eden Valley. Julie Ashmead leads the winemaking and viticulture teams in crafting distinctly classic, yet refined, Barossa reds that live up to the estate’s history and world class quality.

Press Review

Elderton Estate Grenache Shiraz Mourvèdre 2018

44% grenache. 31% shiraz, 25% mourvedre that has come together fabulously and is immediately pleasurable. Tangy, ripe, juicy fruit spiced up with musk, juniper and woodsy spices. Fuller-bodied but not a blockbuster, compact tannins and freshness throughout. Great stuff.

Elderton Estate Grenache Shiraz Mourvèdre 2018

Dark, ripe plums, cedary oak, graphite and charcuterie - plenty to consider when swirled in the glass. It's ripe and balanced - built on the sure foundation of quality fruit. The shiraz portion dominates the blend and it is all the better for it. Great work at the blending table. Delicious. Drink 2019-2027.
