Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape les Hauts-Lieux 12pk 2017
Organic and biodynamic approaches, minimal intervention and a great love for the terroir have always displayed the essence of Vieille Julienne. Jean-Paul Daumen took over from his father in 1992 and has since become one of the most iconic, innovative and respected producers of the Rhone. In addition to his Vieille Julienne label, Jean-Paul is also making wines under his biodynamic negoc label ‘Daumen’. Even if these wines have the intention to be more accessible, they are anything but simple. Read More
Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape Les Hauts-lieux 2017
65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 10%, Cinsault, 5% Counoise. Bio-dynamic farming.
Blueberry, blackberry, a violet perfume, liquorice, dried herb and a dash of pepper. It’s tight and so ‘mineral’, like drinking liquid stone, which sounds ludicrous, but is emphatically a very good thing. Tight, some dark chocolate, fine acidity, so much ripe sticky tannin, and a long stony finish of fabulous length. What a thing this is! Beautiful.

Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape les Hauts-Lieux 2017
"The 2017 Châteauneuf Du Pape Les Hauts-Lieux comes from slightly higher elevation sites and includes more Mourvèdre than the Les Trois Source release. It’s pure, full-bodied, and incredibly structured, with a tight, backward style that’s going to benefit from bottle age. Showing a distinct salty minerality as well as loads of black and blue fruits, it reminds me of the 2015 yet with more elegance. Hide bottles for 4-5 years and enjoy over the following two decades".
