Coriole Mary Kathleen Reserve Cabernet Merlot 6pk 2017 (Sold Out)

The Lloyd family founded Coriole in 1967, and are considered pioneers in the McLaren Vale region, and visionaries in the planting of Italian and French varieties. Long before it was fashionable, Mark Lloyd developed vineyards of Sangiovese, Picpoul, Chenin Blanc, Nero d’Avola, and others, plus of course, Shiraz. They are considered one of the leading lights of the region.
Coriole Mary Kathleen Reserve Cabernet Merlot 2017
A shimmering ruby, this is exceptional warm climate cabernet. The usual varietal pointers of blackcurrant, bouquet garni, graphite and the motley crew of herb aside, the tannin management here skilled, linked with an after-carriage of coffee grind bite. Real detail to these tannins. Compact. A noble sheen married to compelling length.

Coriole Mary Kathleen Reserve Cabernet Merlot 2017
Always a bit of a dark horse in the Coriole range, and I wine I most often really like.Intense small berried dark fruit, aniseed and cedar, tobacco and perfume. It’s medium-bodied, well-knit tannin and flavours of truffle and blackcurrant, dense and flavoursome, sweetly fruited, yet quite fine and ‘minerally’ too, nutty, dusty and long, with a nice bit of chew to the tannin as it goes. More than a little ‘claret’ running through its veins.
