2018 Gourmet Traveller Wine Viticulturalist of the Year

The Bream Creek vineyard was planted in 1974 by Fred Peacock. One of the first commercial vineyards established in the Apple Isle state, it has long been considered one of the very best sites in Eastern Tasmania. Fred's premium cool-climate wines are concentrated and long, thanks to the mature vines and low yields.

Bream Creek Cuvée Traditionelle 6pk 2012

60% pinot noir, 40% chardonnay, disgorged Oct '18. Around 80% of the base wine spent 5 months in very old French oak to allow mlf to develop naturally before the wine was tiraged and spent 6 years on lees. A most appealing and complex wine, a bargain for consumers.

Light to medium yellow colour with a waxy, beeswax, toasty bouquet with elements of lemon and butter. It's complex. The wine is firm and dry in the mouth without particular textural creaminess. The tannins counter that.
