Made at the Lethbridge winery, Between 5 Bells is the brainchild of David Fesq, the 6th generation of a wine family with their origins as Negocients in Bordeaux. His ancestor Georges Fesq came over in 1848 intending only to sell his wares en-route to Sydney and then return to France having spread the seed of the First Growths of Bordeaux. 160+ years later, David has taken the family into a new genre of wine with his 5 Bells wines. The driving ideology of wine is neither of place or varietal. Rather unique wines of Australian origin that are simply delicious to drink.

Between Five Bells Pinot Wine 2019

Mostly pinot noir but joining in are other pinots meunier and gris. From the creative set that is Between Five Bells. Spends time in a single 5000 litre oak barrel.

This is really good. What could be just a ‘great drinking red’, elevates on a web of tight and tense tannins, rises again on amaro-licked acidity, feels part cherry juice, part pomegranate juice and part blood orange juice, but all compact and sinewy and long. It’s really good drinking, sure, but also delivers a good dose of sophistication for those hoping to spend a little time with it.
