    *LSV Shiraz indent in QLD*

The LSV Shiraz Viognier is named after the late vigneron Kim Ludvigson. Kim passed away on his vineyard in 2014, and Best's felt it fitting to name the wine 'Ludvigson' Shiraz Viognier. Kim was a beloved member of the local wine community and well known and respected amongst his peers in the wine industry.

There may be no other winery that defines the essence of Australia more than Best’s Great Western; family, history, truly unique wines, and its own region. Founded in 1866 by Henry Best, it has been managed by the Thomson family for six generations, including 50+ vintages by the current patriarch, Viv. These special wines form a true national treasure of our industry.

Best's Great Western LSV Shiraz Viognier 2017

Best's ancient clone and clone 1654, plus 2% viognier, 15% whole bunches, closed fermenters for 8 days, then pressed to used oak for 12 months maturation. How can 2% viognier give the wine the exotic perfume it has, and the ravishingly seductive palate? The answer is that it's the shiraz, not the viognier.

Best's Great Western LSV Shiraz Viognier 2017

Very attractive and vibrant red berries with spices and peppery nuances in abundance. The palate has a very silky, fleshy and juicy edge with spicy raspberry and red-plum flavors, set amongst silky, ribbon-like tannins. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Best's Great Western LSV Shiraz Viognier 2017

Deepish red/purple, bright colour, with a fragrant aroma of mixed spices and floral notes, including cinnamon, pepper and mace. The palate is soft and round and full, and replete with spicy cooler-grown flavours, and perhaps a touch of whole-bunch in the mix. Light but tight, dry and appropriately firm tannins. An elegant, quite delicious shiraz. (Contains a small percentage of viognier).
