WHY WE CHOSE THE NAME PINK SHEEP
We are big Alexander McQueen fans, the flamboyant fashion designer often referred to himself as the ‘Pink Sheep’ in the family. He was a troubled genius that suffered from depression and ultimately ended his life prematurely at age 40. He really was the main inspiration behind the name and we thought the mental health charity donation was the perfect fit in more ways than one.

WHY DID WE CHOOSE A MENTAL HEALTH CHARITY TO DONATE 50c A BOTTLE TO WORLDWIDE
As a family owned company we have always wanted to support a great cause and donate a portion of our sales to a particular charity. My family has been affected with mental illness & NZ is leading the world in youth suicide. Mental illness is easily disguised & the “unspoken” needs to be voiced & treated, we hope our donation will create a platform for this voice & treatment.

PINK SHEEP WINEMAKER
Dave Clouston is SOHO’s Marlborough Winemaker. Dave has won 37 gold medals and 3 champion trophies for SOHO. Dave aims to capture and emphasize Marlborough’s intense power, while producing complex, elegant wines with a slightly European flair. Dave learnt to make great Rosé on the island of Corsica, he takes Rosé very seriously, aiming for a dry, pure, Pinot Noir Rosé in a Mediterranean style.

PINK SHEEP MARLBOROUGH GRAPES & PROCESSING
The Pinot Noir grapes used for this wine were carefully selected from the alluvial-free draining soils of Marlborough’s Wairau Valley and from a very special clay predominant site at the southernmost end of Marlborough’s Awatere Valley. The decision to harvest the grapes was made on ideal acidity rather than sugar ripeness. The juice was fermented similar to a white wine with aromatic yeasts at cool temperatures in stainless steel. The wine was fermented until dry and left on fine yeast lees for 10 weeks to add texture and salinity to the palate.

PINK SHEEP TASTING PROFILE
This is an exceptional example of pure, dry styled, vibrant & classy NZ Rosé. Aromas of fresh watermelon & wild crushed berries, with a touch of pastille confectionery, matched with mouth-watering acidity, lovely silky tannins and a refreshingly dry finish. 3gm RS.

PINK SHEEP LABEL DESIGN
Inspired by Damien Hurst, we created the background art in house with a spinning wheel AKA the lettuce spinner & our favourite fluro colours with gold. Our designer then added the sheep face with the docking tag & the street styled font. An animal lover & someone who is passionate about Mental Health, Rachael Carter (pictured above), wrote the back label.
