Bream Creek Pinot Noir 2014

More rain than usual and a cold snap in November and December meant that flowering was disrupted, hence yields for vintage 2014 were significantly down across all southern Australian states. However, these lower yields meant that the fruit from that vintage was of excellent quality, with perfect balance between flavour and physiological ripeness.

Winery Note - "Made in our traditional bold style, this cool climate Pinot Noir has a spicy dark cherry nose and an intense, balanced palate with flavours of dark plums and cherries, savoury spices and subtle French oak. Perfect with roast duck or pork, this wine may be enjoyed now or confidentially cellared".
Hand-picked, clones D2V5, D2V6 and D5V12, 80% whole berry/destemmed, 20% whole bunches, open-fermented, 22 days on skins, matured in French oak (18% new) for 10 months. Deeply coloured; the bouquet is complex, with multi-spices and an attractive, warm undergrowth, the palate adding depth and texture. Black cherry and plum fruit is lengthened by fine, persistent tannins. Well deserved gold medal Tasmanian Wine Show '17.

This year, Bream Creek are releasing a Reserve Pinot Noir 2014, made from the best parcels of fruit from this high quality Tasmanian vintage, alongside their Estate Pinot Noir 2014. Lower than average yields in this vintage resulted in excellent quality fruit with perfect balance between flavour and physiological ripeness.

Winery note - "Our 2014 Reserve is a showcase Tasmanian Pinot Noir, selected from the very best parcels of fruit. This is a complex and powerful wine, with flavours of dark cherry and raspberry, spice and French oak flavours and excellent length and balance. This limited release wine can be enjoyed now, but will reward careful cellaring".
Deep red/purple colour, with a leathery stemmy nose. The wine is full-bodied and nicely rounded, with smooth tannins, ripe and elegant. A really superb wine.
